Avatars in Studio

An avatar is built from a description into a set of face and body views, a portrait and two angle sheets, gets a voice from the voiceover library and then works as a reference: in Studio photoshoots, voiceover and animation, and in project generations.

Avatars live in Studio, in the Avatars section. A New avatar is created in one of two modes. Builder assembles the character step by step: Identity, Body, Face and skin, Hair and Outfit. From prompt is free text in the What to create field and up to 16 of your own photos in Photo references. In both modes you choose a Style: Realism, Stylized 3D, Illustration or Custom, described in words.

From the description, Studio generates a view set: a reference portrait, a body sheet from the front, side and back, and a face sheet in four angles, 3/4 and profile on each side. The three images are generated in 4K, and the sheets are split into separate frames, so the character has eight views in total. Building the set costs 15 tokens, 5 for each of the three images. If the portrait, body sheet or face sheet does not come out well, it is repeated on its own without rebuilding the whole set.

In the Voice step, a Character voice from the voiceover library is linked to the avatar. The avatar speaks in this voice in Voiceover; without a linked voice, voiceover does not start. You can create and train your own voice with an active plan.

A finished avatar has Materials and three actions. Photoshoot creates new shots from a description of the look, pose or environment; with @ and References you add the avatar's materials and products from the Products section. In Voiceover you enter text and choose a shot or video, and the model makes a video where the character says the line. Animation turns a shot into a video from a description of the motion and the chosen duration. The model for each action is chosen in the settings, and the price is shown next to the button before launch.

Results go to the avatar's Materials. You can open, download, rename, edit a region, move to Trash and send them to a project with Add to project. In a project, the avatar is selected in the prompt bar References or mentioned in the prompt as @name. The model receives the portrait and both angle sheets, without picking images by hand. The avatar's voice is available in the voice picker, under Avatar voices.

Appearance is changed with two actions. Edit creates a new version from the current images with the described changes. Recreate rebuilds the avatar from its parameters, and its appearance may change. Previous versions stay in History. An older avatar with three views is moved to the current format with the Upgrade button on the Avatar 2.0 card: the description, parameters and references carry over from the current version, and the price is the same as building the set.

For a real person, From prompt mode has an Avatar V step. In it you upload or record with the camera a video of this person; the interface asks for one continuous take from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Then the person confirms consent in HeyGen, and the HeyGen Avatar V model with their digital twin appears in Voiceover.

What it gives you

The set is generated in 4K from a description: a portrait and two angle sheets, the body from three sides and the face in four angles, eight views in total.

Building the set costs 15 tokens; the portrait, body sheet or face sheet is repeated on its own for 5.

Photoshoot, Voiceover and Animation work from the selected avatar and put results into its Materials.

The avatar says a line in its Character voice from the voiceover library.

In a project, the avatar is selected in References or with @name in the prompt, and the model receives its full set of views.

Each edit creates a new version, and previous ones stay in History.

When it is useful

Host of a video series

One avatar with a linked voice says lines in Voiceover and appears in project scenes through References.

Avatar with a product

In Photoshoot, a product from the Products section is added to References next to the avatar, and the shot is built on both.

A character in a non-realistic style

Stylized 3D, Illustration or a Custom style is set at creation and kept in all views of the set.

A digital twin of a real person

The Avatar V step, based on a video and the confirmed consent of this person, gives talking videos with their appearance.

FAQ

How is Builder different from From prompt mode?

Builder assembles the character by fields: identity, body, face and skin, hair, outfit. From prompt takes free text and up to 16 of your own photos in Photo references. The Avatar V step also opens there.

How much does an avatar cost?

Building the set costs 15 tokens; repeating the portrait, body sheet or face sheet costs 5. The price of a photoshoot, voiceover and animation depends on the chosen model and is shown next to the button before launch.

Do I need my own photos?

No. Builder works without photos, and if you leave the parameters open, a neutral avatar is built. Photos are added in From prompt mode when the character should be based on a specific appearance.

Can I change the appearance of a finished avatar?

Yes. Edit applies the described changes on top of the current images, and Recreate rebuilds the avatar from its parameters. Both create a new version, and the previous one stays in History.

How do I use an avatar in a project?

Select it in the prompt bar References or mention it in the prompt with @. Finished shots and videos from Materials are sent to a project with Add to project.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. An avatar is created and edited on a phone, and its Materials and Studio actions open in the mobile version.
